Wow. Some Nvidia killer benchmarks coming out right now for HL2. Looks like HL2 will run twice as fast on the ATI 9800 series hardware under DX9. Valve says that they are going to treat the NV3X hardware as DX8.1 compatible, rather than DX9, just to get some speed back. The nail in the coffin for Nvidia was that Microsoft has validated that HL2 is using DX9 correctly - thereby stating that ATI's implementation of DX9 is properly done.
Once again, this proves that NVidia is playing catchup to ATI.
