Those little RC cars can be pretty cool to run.

Funny thing is, it's mostly adult men playing with them. Costly hobby.

1) depends... about 300$ though.

2) depends, there are 2 kinds. Ready to Run (RTR, R2R), and there are kits. kits u need, mostly 4sized screwdrivers, sissors, thread lock(super glue), knife. Gas, Glow Plug starter (i recomend the one that uses a D bat, not the rechargable). Radio + Engine(sometimes dont ocme in non-r2r kits)

3) well id goto ur local hobby store. we have a hobbyworks around here, and they have ones u can buy, and they will help u out on it and stuff. i have a Koshona (or something) and the only reason they worked on it, was because they never saw that one b4. i like HPI (www.HPIracing.com they have some nice ones.

(ill go get my camera and show u mine its onroad)

An awesome one (truck though, not car) is the Traxxas RTR. Even comes with a push-button starter... They have a video on their site.

Damn fAEt...a gas powered porsche? must haul ass

I used to have a few RC cars when I was younger...mostly electric only had one gas....sh1t was fast.....
When I was growing up my house was the 1st one built on our street..so there was always construction going on, houses being built...so we used to take our cars and tear around the houses

lol, on a side note....we took about 10 pieces of plywood form a house once and built the biggest quarter pipe i have ever skated b4

Most gas powered cars/trucks are the way to go.

First decide on what you want and save up to get it right the first time. I have had and still have several R/C cars, and I can tell you as with almost anything, "you get what you pay for". Support UP

Scale sizes 1/10th, 1/8th, & 1/4 are the most popular, and almost all the local Hobby Stores should have all the spare parts, gas, Tires, and accessories needed. If you do not have mechanical skills, get a RTR, or even better buy a used one to be sure you really want to get into that sport.

Tools, like Faet said, but also add allen wrench's and nut drivers, or a small metric/american socket set, and a soldering iron posibly.

The Traxxas T-Maxx 4X4 is one of the best RTR trucks for just playing around. Read the reviews and watch the video here http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/tmaxx/trx_tmaxx.htm
Cost about $450 - $550 to get all you need to play.

If you want to step down to the stadium race truck, 2wd, Traxxas has one of those also, very durable products. Here is mine, it is about 6 yrs old and modified but 70% is original, there is always maintenance, and those curbs and trees that rip the "A" arms right off the frame.

Oh, and here is the 1/8th scale 4X4 buggy .21 engine.

the other was a 1/10th scale Traxxas, with a .12 engine.

Good Luck in your search, Mo

I used to have a pretty fast electric truck that i used to chase cars down the street with, until one day the battery got weak, lost controls and some old fart ran it over.

Of course I rebuilt it . But always wanted to get the gas powered ones. They Rock.

Each car has its own set of tools from what i understand.
The electric one i had came with a tool kit.

Here is some basics, maybe you can recognize them, if not I can throw a caption on the pic.

The Car/Truck may come with some tools, but they do not last if you use them alot. You could probably put together most of these tools and a few more for around $35.00 US

I did not put in screwdrivers, they are normal household tools.

Where do you live? I can search and send you links.

Thx for the pic Mofoco.
I dont know all the toolname's in eng but i know this tools.
But i dont know the yellow tools, can you tell the name?
We have alot of tools guz my mom bougth a toolbox and filled it whit tools and its overloaded!

Where do you live? I can search and send you links.
I live in Holland.(the land where Amsterdam is)
But kind what of links you want to send me?
If you want to send me shop links you dont need to help me guz i can get them real fast at this site (http://www.startpagina.nl) .(dutch site)
If you want to send me links whit RC brands like hpi-europe (http://www.hpi-europe.com) that woud be cool.
If i have the links i can look for cool looking cars.

They are Allen wrenches. The same as those swown in the red case but with the driver handle. Makes faster work of pulling the engine or replacing a shock after you buried the front end into a stump. ;)

That's cool you have a long time hobby Mofoco and CyberFly can benefit from your knowledge

Loved the way you included the required Sunglasses as a must have tool. They not only allow you to see your "high pitched screaming vroom vroom" at all times, you can look Oh So Cool wearing them too ;)

I was thinking of links to other hobby clubs in your area, and maybe you could go see them, and watch some races. also you might see what is popular and readily availible. This Link is world wide. http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/websites/clubs.htm

This Is a Hobby warehouse http://www.towerhobbies.com/ they ship everywhere.

Sunglasses, Safety Glasses  keeps the glare down.

*Mom need your creditcar to buy something!*
And shipping outside USA cost alot.
The link site was cool and i got some link but there was no RC car club link only RC plains and other RC things.

as other have suggest, stick to brand name cars.. like Hpi etc.. also you are looking at close to $500 for a set up in Nitro being you need, car, glowstarter (or a starter box) and a radio FM being WAY better then AM for nitro due to better signal but of course it cost more... then you have Gas and so on..

Cheapest way for you to get into this would to by some sort of RTR truck like the Traxx T-max as others mentioned.. Keep in mind that for many Nitro cars you have NO reverse (some do) and unless you have a space to run them like I do, it can be sort an issue..

cheapest fun basher truck would be a little electric Traxx truck.. I have one of those and a nitro HPI RS4.. Now I LOVE the nitro car the most of course.. 2 speed trans and faster then the cars that drive down my street but errrr well it breaks :) Where as the cheapy $100 Traxx truck is a TANK!!

sigh.. of course when the happy day of the radar truck being on the street comes back (being I live next to a school) I could NOT find the glow starter for my bad ass rs4.. sigh... sooooooooooooo the little Traxx electric truck gets the call to make the speed run!!

and of course like all all good speed runs, I crashed out as I took the picture. hehe 14mph not bad for sort of going up hill... in a monster truck of course..

Like others have said, you should go with a RTR if your gonna get a nitro, it would be a bit hard to build one your first time, or if you want to build one I would get a electric kit, you can have more fun and most of the time go fater with nitro, but it's more work to get going and for maintence, can be messy and you don't always 100% sarting, and you wil need to clean up the car and the motor after uisng it, the same for elelctric but not as much to clean, my R/C Tamyia Clod Buster and TAO3-RS with Porche GT1 body, Thunder Tiger 1/8 nitro buggy with a .21, Team Associated RC10 B3 buggy, a old 4wd buggy can't remember the name right now, and a Traxxus Stampede, I think that's what Deadlamb has, been bashed up plenty the body is held together with glue and tape, R/C can be so much fun, you can have so a good time with with whatever you get.

too lazy to put some pics up, so check this old thread out.

Its not that hard to build one... took me like 2weeks (working prolly 1-2 hours a day). Its not that hard to do just fallow the pictures/directions. i also made it when i was like 13 =p. so its not terrible hard to do.
