Ever since I got Unreal 2 its been a big pain in my ass trying to get good perfomance. i have very nice comp going at 1.6 ghz with 512 mb of ram and a Geforce4 ti 4200 64 mb. I dont know why it doesnt even go fast at 800*600. Even with the new patch I still get slow framerates. So my BIG question of the day is WHEN WILL EPIC FIX UNREAL 2???? Im welcoming ANY comments about this thread "many causalties please assist!!!".
Sincerly, KILLMAN

I have a 1,4ghz 256mb ram and it runs smoothly on 1024*768*32 ultra quality
but I do have an ATI Radeon 9700Pro, but I don't see too much difference with my Geforce 4 Ti 4200 before I've won the card...
maybe a ****ed up windows? reinstall windows and see again:)

Dude beleive it or not I re-installed windows 3 days ago to try to see if it would go faster and it is actually going SLOWER than before. Plus before my comp had viruses!!!???? So I guese epic @#*&ed up in the making of Unreal II for windows. If they come out with a mac version it better NOT be better or I'm gonna be pissed. I hope they come out witha better patch soon or I'm mailing a complaint!!!!

Like it says by your avatar... you DO need a bigger gun...

LOL - owned by teh Monk.
On a more serious note.. I have your same vid card, and the game runs fine for me. You might double-check that you don't have anti-aliasing turned on, because that will send your framerates to a screeching halt.

Yup, what Creeper said - on my Athlon1600 / GF4200 it runs perfectly smooth at 1024x768, all details maxed. Could be something wrong with your drivers/settings.

well, i ran it on p3/1g/512m/gf264 800x600 and after *optimizing* and down-tweaking u2 and up-tweaking the gf2 it ran "ok to bad in a few spots" -- avg around 25fps at best but it still looked good...
moved it over to a p4/1.8/gf3-64 1024x768 still had to down-tweak (getting rid of the shadow depth made a big diff for me) and it ran great -- avg 40-60fps most times, that's good for sp -- the big spider battle was really smooth...
edit: oh yeah, also upgraded to latest nvidea driver (at the time) on both machines :)

Well I figured that if all you guys have such a good working Unreal II maybe Creeper can send me his Unreal2.ini file. I would be very appreciative to see you send it to me. My e-mail iskillman@verizon.net
Please help me out here :angst:

Done. Althought I still suspect it's something not within the game itself.. at least that should rule out one possibility.

well the INI files didnt help much i bet it has to do with me having XP because XP is known for its excessive background tasks. Plus XP takes up some video ram as well. You tell me creeper. help me out.
