CTF-NoonRaid? CTF-TrainYard? CTF-TundraExtreme?

Come on people. At the time of this writing, there are 1312 CTF maps in the database at Nali Sh*tty ((c) Horton's Who).

Yes, these are good maps. Yes, these are OLD maps. I loved playing these maps, and when I see them in the Map Requests forum, my first response is "Oh yeah, that was a great map!". WAS, past tense.

Hall of Giants was a one of a kind map. No one has made its equal. There are better maps and worse maps, but there's only one Hall of Giants. Will it ever run on StealthDP's Playground? There's a 99.9% (left myself an out) chance that it will NEVER run on this server. When this map comes up in the rotation, player loads immediatley drop to less than half. It's good, but it's dead.

Bringing these maps to the server and being able to play them again is great. But after playing it 1 or 2 times, I'm reminded of why these older maps were shelved.

Stealth and I look at EVERY SINGLE CTF MAP that gets uploaded to Nali Sh*tty ((c) Horton's Who), including CTF-ThisSucks (and it did). And we try to make the few that are any good (in our opinion) available for voting or we immediately put them on the game server (Thursday night, we uploaded eight new maps).

Some of these maps will make it into the voting pool, but will never get voted in. Why? Because no one wants to take a chance. Nope. "I would rather play CTF-Romra, because I KNOW I liked that map at one time", says (insert your name here).

We want for people to be involved in the way the server operates. We'd like for the players to have some input.

Why don't you guys put a little bit of effort into it and check out the newer maps at Nali Sh*tty ((c) Horton's Who) yourselves? Then you can make some real recommendations. See if you can sway the vote towards some new maps.

I'm not putting up any more "older" maps. This is a cutting edge server, in a cutting edge community with cutting edge players. I won't settle for anything less than cutting edge maps.

(Side note: Anywhere in these forums, you can put <colon>NS<colon> and it will automagically be replaced with "Nali Sh*tty ((c) Horton's Who)". I have to give credit where credit's due.)

Sounds good to me...I'm always happy to expand my map collection. Heehee. Personally, I vote first for maps I haven't played before or don't have yet. Doesn't always work out well (Erida), but that's the risk that comes with mixing up the gameplay. And I KNOW I liked Romra at one time and still love it. Heehee. Anywho, I think you guys are doing a great job weeding out the crappier maps and bringing us some of the best new stuff out there. Perhaps I'll start visiting :NS: to see what you guys look through...

Well--I'm guilty of dredging up some oldies but I try to find ones that I've never seen on any server. That said... the pickins seem to get slimmer everyday ... I scan the other websites and it seems like the quality maps are getting few between... I'll keep looking...

I had to jump on in here to add something... give these maps a chance! I can't tell you how many times a new map starts up and someone starts typing "where's the flag, I'm lost...this map sucks." Now, I could care less if someone thinks a map sucks. But give it a chance before you condemn it. We put all maps on the web site for download so you can check 'em out in advance and figure all the routes, etc. The first thing I do when checking out a new map is to do a "fly through" to locate flag room and other points of interest before I go on in.
There are some great maps out there that just take a little time to figure out. I personally like Erida, I have played some good games on that one. But it took me a few runs through it to find the quick paths between bases. And there are many more examples I could give.

Patience, my children, patience....

Explain how to do this, please? Do you mean before a game gets going, that waiting time when you can't pick up weapons? I just goof around and here you are checking out whats what, Jeeze. I'll try it if thats what you mean. I really mean it when I say I just play UT and learn as I go. Any other tips????

When you start a practice session, after the map loads, you can fly around the map and check it out before clicking "fire" to start the game.

LOL! I automatically assumed people would fly through a map to figure out all its secrets. I stopped doing that because I like to be surprised - adds a little mystery. But ya - for those who bitch about being lost , they should fly through the map or play it first in single player and follow the bots. Also spectator mode is a good time to fly around and watch the action when the others are fighting - cool!

Hey at least I learned how to set the "bots play"!!!! I will try the fly through on maps I haven't figured out where the amp and such are. On some new maps I am so busy defending and dying I haven't gotten past the outside of the building yet..eeks. I would love to see the whole map..hehe..and go into the other base :)
I just figured some are soo good at what they do, I can at least try to keep the flag at our base. And I don't mind not being the capper ( I have capped on some maps ), I am also trying to play middle more ( so I won't be a camper..lol ). The surprise is nice when you get somewhere you haven't been. Its like ta-da I AM HERE...:D. Oh enough.

Good map today...bad weapons tho. Does anyone know what map I am talking about? I cant remember the name...its sorta dark, very big....lots of brick. Has Flak, Rockets, Shock and Sniper.
Sorta turned into a Sniper fest. If it had a few more weps, it would be great, it plays and flows well.

I'm liking Enterprise so far BUT THAT THEME HAS GOT TO GO!!!! It sucks now and will suck worse in year 5!

Just throw in a couple of seven of nines and species35789 or whatever they call them and a couple borg from the future and the show will kick ass - hehe. The theme songs not that great, they should go back to something closer to the original. Glad your keeping this thread on topic.....

I am all about that...that theme is really out of place...

stop!! you're getting me worried that liking UT opens the door to being a Trekkie!! david e. kelley shows are all fine and good (well..except Ally), but I ain't watched Star Trek since i was a middle-schooler and the next generation (the last good series) was still new...

Well you should have guessed it would be low key 'cause it suppose to be BEFORE the big space adventures..doh. It is low key to connect to the humans more than the gadgets.. btw Scott Bacula (sp) sings the intro..lol
