I was playing on ThornsV3 last night having a completely awful game. Like 3 frags vs. 25 deaths or something along those lines.

I realized why I was playing so awful at that point. It had to do with the fact that I was running straight at enemies.

1) Running straight at someone makes you such an easy target. The enemy barely needs to aim, all he needs to do is let off some ammo and you run right into it the bullets.

2) Moving forward and adjusting your aim is one of the hardest things to do. I was trying to run forward, then spin and let off a volley of rockets. Everytime i did this, my rockets would go straight into the ground. Sometimes killing myself, but ultimately leaving me an easy kill in the opponents base area. Moving backwards and being able to accurately target moving opponents is so much easier.

So even though the flag is forward, sometimes you have to go backwards to make a little progress.

(The Freshmaker doesn't mean to represent his playing skills as anything more than mediocre. However he has developed an expertise in mediocreness which he wishes to share to your advantage.)

From my previous list of advice:

3. Translocator is your best friend. Gets you across maps quickly, and makes you quite hard to target or engage. But at the same time, you have to know when to put it away, and take out a weapon and be ready for battle. And also don't try to translocate past too many enemies. If there are two or more players their, likely one will hunt you down, from the back.

If you can translocate entirely accross a map without getting nailed by someone, you are a better player than I.

.... Well you are a much better player than I, but that's besides the point. :)

Someone has to wade in to provide back-up for the flag-carriers anyway.

I can xloc my way to just about anywhere safely... trouble is, you generally end up at the base with no cover and it is hard to get the flag...

timing is everything... all it takes it to get 1 or 2 others to go along and you can manage it. Recently in CTF-CivilWar it was great fun with Play and Recon, the three of us repeatedly zipping across the map with one carrying the skull ;) I will admit to borrowing a certain FCSM more than once... though never with the same penache, elan nor sartorial splendor.... :D
