I am a stange one when it comes to music. Why you ask? Well when i have a mixed disk its ****ing mixed with for example Fear Factory "Edge Crusher" to Miles Davis "Blue" on one CD..My friends were always like wtf..

But as a fan of music i have always been open mided to all kinda of music except country music to a certain extent.. But one person who does and doesnt fit into that genre of Music and can fit into many others is johny Cash.. I have always expressed great kudos and respect for this man.. He has conquered many evils in the very unforgiving music world and over 5 decades has put out some brilliant folk-rock-counrty-blues... I recently read a autobiography on him and was brought to tears by it..The first book i have ever read that wasnt about something I had to read for school ..

He has most recently gotten very ill and claimed for bankruptcy many times over the past few years and may not be alive much longer. He has worked with many musicians over the years Most noteably "Nine inch Nails" Trent Reznor (self proclaimed Cash Groupie").

His lastest album (and prolly his last) 'American IV: The Man Comes Around' it's joyous,Depressing and very folky.. But his opening video covering "Trent Reznor's" "Hurt" brought me to tears watching it.. He looks like he is close to dying and it tells the story of his life..

"The video has already reduced rock hardmen Zackl De La Rocha, formerly of - RATM and Trent Reznor of NIN to tears. "

I was forced to listen to Johnny Cash growing up. Kinda grew on me.

I have heard some of his latest tracks and I wish I never had.

Ruling out country music whole-sale is a little bit of a shame.

Yes, the pop-country musicians of today: Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks don't hold any more interest to me than the latest Britney Spears albumn does.

But damn if they aint some fine tunes in the Cowboy Western, Honky Tonk, and Bluegrass genres of old.

Yep

I like alot of old C&W. The most recent singer I like is George Strait. Prior to that is a whole bunch back to late 60's to early 70's.

New stuff is for the birds.

Cash rules-- as do a number of the old timers.

I really like Bluegrass and Olde Tyme... Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, etc.... that high. lonesome sound stuff.
